Design Master Wish List

The current releases are DM Electrical RT 2.0, DM Electrical 8.6, DM HVAC 7.3, and DM Plumbing 4.1. We are not adding new features to these releases.

The next releases will be DM Electrical RT 2.1, DM Electrical 8.7, DM HVAC 7.4, and DM Plumbing 4.2 We are actively working on these release and using this wishlist to guide which features we implement. Features marked as "Planned" will be available in these releases.

  1. Edit Multiple - Instance Edit

Enable editing multiple instances with the Instance Edit functionality, similar to Edit Multiple in AutoCAD.

Use case: You have a line of 10 motors and the mechanical designer decides that they need to bump up 5 hp.

Current workflow: Instance edit one at a time or delete and start from scratch.

Desired workflow: Multiple Instance Edit to change MCA and MOCP.

  3. Size Motor Disconnect using NEC 430.110

Add a feature to size and label motor disconnects.

NEC 430.110 calls for 115% of the full-load current rating of the motor.

We could also include an option to require the disconnect to be at least as large of the OCPD rating of the circuit.

Also an option for a specific size selected by the user.

And an option for a specific custom value if you want to indicate something such as "With unit" or "Not required".

Finally, a list of acceptable sizes to use for the disconnect. A default list of standard sizes would be included but you could…

  9. Ability to add multiple set of conductor in a single conduit

    Example:
    For 400A feeder:
    (2) 3"C, 3-250kcmil AL, 250kcmil AL N, #1 AL G
    (1) 4"C, 6-400kcmil AL, 2-400kcmil AL N, #1 AL G

Instead of each set take (1) conduit, would be good to get multiple set into a single conduit. This is mainly because installing (1) 4" conduit is cheaper than (2) 3" conduits.

  10. Add "Panel Neutral" in Revit MEP

Add "Panel Neutral" as a parameter to panels in Revit MEP.

    Options for neutral would be:
    50%
    100%
    133%
    200%
    None

This value would be a shared parameter for scheduling purposes. It would not be used in any calculations.

  11. Size ground and isolated ground separately

Add an option to the isolated ground to size it to a specific value. Currently it is an on/off toggle and sized to match the ground wire.

  12. Set Selective Coordination Graph Voltage

Add an option to set the voltage that selective coordination graphs use for their display.

Currently the voltage is set based on the voltage of the majority of equipment displayed on the graph.

  13. Selective Coordination Graph: Fault Options

The fault labels are currently displayed automatically at the top of the selective coordination graphs.

Add an option to display the fault at the top (current functionality), at the bottom (current label would move to the top of the graph), or remove them.

  14. Selective Coordination Graph: Set minimum time

Be able to set the minimum time for selective coordination graphs. Currently it is fixed at 0.01. We could add an option to set it at 0.1 or 0.01. Or add an option to set it at a specific value.

We are leaning toward implementing it as a 0.1 or 0.01 option. If you would like it as a custom value, indicate that in the comments.

  17. Per-Panel Wire Sizing

Assign different wire sizing options to different panels. For example, have the minimum circuit breaker for most panels be 20A, but be able to specify 15A for some panels in the project.

  18. Customize Parallel Run Labeling

Add customization options for how multiple parallel runs are labeled for wires.

DM currently labels multiple sets with the number of sets in parenthesis before the full wire callout:

    (3) 3-1/2"C, 4-600kcmil, 3/0G

If you are interested this feature, indicate in the comments how you would like the multiple runs labeled.
