Design Master Wish List
The current releases are DM Electrical RT 2.0, DM Electrical 8.6, DM HVAC 7.3, and DM Plumbing 4.1. We are not adding new features to these releases.
The next releases will be DM Electrical RT 2.1, DM Electrical 8.7, DM HVAC 7.4, and DM Plumbing 4.2 We are actively working on these release and using this wishlist to guide which features we implement. Features marked as "Planned" will be available in these releases.

Electrical + HVAC for Revit in German with german norms
We have a large Building design Industrie. And all Arch and Eng companies are now changing from AutoCad to Revit but there is no good Software on the market for engineers to calculate electrical or HVAC Systems. An app for Revit for both will make it all better and faster. The potential could be in the millions.

Create Room Outlines Automatically
Detect room boundaries from the architect's XREF automatically and create rooms based upon it.

Shortcut Keys for DM Commands
Add shortcut commands for commands. For example, "ML" for "Move Loop or Homerun" or "BC" for "Break Circuit".

Edit multiple devices--select from list
When editing multiple devices, be able to select from a list in addition to being able to select from the drawing. Equipment currently works this way. Expand it to other types of devices.

Annotation Scaling / Multiple Scales on a Single Drawing
Add support for annotative scale factors for blocks and text. This would allow blocks and text to be the same size in different scaled viewports.

Add the ability to create plan notes
If you could add the ability to create plan or keynotes to all devices and fixtures, you could eliminate some of the notes that occupy space beside them. Typically a hex box, circle would have the keynote number in it, which would refer you to a common list of notes on the edge of the space. Keeping them tied to the respective annotation layers may help keep them sortable by the entities on that sheet.

Generic Schedule Creator
Have a way to create a generic schedule. The schedule will be informational purposes only, but it will be generated the same way as the other DM schedules so it will look the same.

Background Mask for Text
Have a mask on all the text inserted with Design Master that will hide anything on the drawing behind it to make it easier to read.

Metric
Support drawings with metric base units.

Add spell check option for schedules.
ACAD spell check does not update Design Master Schedules. ACAD spell check needs to be run every time a schedule is updated.

SI units
SIngle button to change from IP to SI in a drawing.

Dash in Empty Schedule Cells
Include an option to print a "-" (a dash) in schedule cells if nothing is printed in them.

Canadian Electrical Code Capability
As the word of this software is increasing in Canada, it would be a good idea to have the capabilities of incorporating the Canadian Electrical Code into Design Master.

Importing Revit Model Information
It would be a great tool if we can have the ability to import model information from Revit drawings which are done by architects. A simple feature would be importing the rooms. This would speed up the process and make designs happen faster.

Vertical Alignment of Schedules
Add an option to control the vertical alignment of text in schedule cells.
Currently everything is justified to the top of the cell. Make it so that text can be centered or at the bottom instead.

MULTIPLE ARROWS
It would be nice to be able to have multiple arrows for 1 piece of text pointing to different devices

Device information on hover
When you hover (or float) your mouse over a DM device, display information about that device in a tooltip.
For DM Electrical, possible information would include callout and circuit number

put alternating shading on successive rows in outputted html tables/reports
For example, when I print an HVAC load calculation report, the many row entries can be difficult to follow visually across the screen. This obviously won't be useful in absolutely every case, but an option to have a little bgcolor="#EEEEEE" every other line would be awesome.

Define data base location in directory other than project directory.
Give us the ability to specify directory location for the project data base rather than being forced to have the data base in the project directory. In a multi-tenant project if each tenant space is in a separate sub-directory you have to copy the building master data base to each sub-directory in order to work on that space. It is difficult to keep track of which tenant space has the most up to date project data base. In an earlier version of Designmaster, we had the ability to look for the data base in a directory above the specific project…
