Design Master Wish List

The current releases are DM Electrical RT 1.3, DM Electrical 8.5, DM HVAC 7.3, and DM Plumbing 4.1. We are not adding new features to these releases.

The next releases will be DM Electrical RT 1.4, DM Electrical 8.6, DM HVAC 7.4, and DM Plumbing 4.2 We are actively working on these release and using this wishlist to guide which features we implement. Some features you see marked as “complete” will not be available until these releases are finished.

  1. Export tag parameter of BC Equipment for labelling on One-line

Obviously unlike electrical equipment, there's no "Panel Name" to identify branch circuit connections for equipment that may appear on the one-line. Currently, the DM Electrical RT ACad plugin allows you to label these by a few parameters such as callout, circuit, load description, etc.

Unfortunately, these are either effectively read-only or not so easily modifiable. For example, the "Callout" parameter in ACad comes from the family type in Revit. The "Load Description" label can be modified from the Revit plugin (using Instance Edit, set the "Override Circuit Description" to yes and then place your own text). There doesn't seem to…

  3. Add a 'Find All Circuits on Drawing' command similar to the 'Find Circuit on Drawing'

This command would be invoked from the panel circuiting dialog box, and would highlight all circuits fed from a particular panel.

  4. Customization of circuiting callouts

In circuiting callouts, allow the dash to be replaced by a custom string.

Example: Default circuiting callout is L1A-1,3,5. Allow us to make it say L1A: 1,3,5 or L1A CKT 1,3,5.

  5. "Match Room Properties" for Load Calculations

When doing room definitions for load calculations there are some properties that pertain to many or all other rooms in the building like "ceiling height" and the "roof properties."

I think it would be useful to have a command like match wall properties for the room properties so I can set up the roof (which almost always applies to the whole building), ceiling height, ventilation requirements, etc. and copy from one room to any others that have the same properties.

  6. Make duct centerlines independent of DIMSCALE

When working at a smaller scale (ie. 1/8th"), make it so the duct center lines always appear the same size. The duct center lines are drafting tools only and do not appear on the drawing therefore having them adjust with the DIMSCALE is not neccesary. When the DIMSCALE is changed to 96 or higher, drafting in tight spaces can be difficult when the duct centerlines are large because the arrows are too large to work with and tend to overlap others.

  7. HVAC Load Calc Graphics for Windows/Glass

Provide a graphic for windows/glass located on walls so you can see easily and quickly figure out which windows have been entered into the load calculation.

Additional idea: Make it a dynamic block so that when you change the width (using a grip) you can stretch the window to change the actual width. The width x height would display above this graphic.

  8. Import/Export Electrical Equipment Schedule Excel

It would be a huge time saver to be able to Export a project electrical equipment schedule into excel for quick data entry and then import back into DM/Autocad. Entering a large list of kitchen equipment can be tedious. Being able to do this in excel would be quicker. The import/export functionality could be similar to how DM handles the layers for the standards database. Alternatively, listing the equipment as a table with aligned rows/columns would be equally efficient.

  9. Room Names in Circuit Description

Provide an option for Room Names analogous to the "Conduit location" Option. Also consider other customization:

-Custom Room prefix - e.g. RM
    -Option to include/exclude Name - e.g., RM 120
-Option to include/exclude Number - e.g., RM FIRE RISER

    Room Names Location:
    ->Start of Circuit Description
    ->End of Circuit Description

Currently the room names always go at the end, just like OOTB Revit. Having the option to put the room at the start would allow for better scheduling for when the intent is for circuits to be organized by room, like so:

  10. A copy function for identical floor plans in multi-level buildings would be a time saving idea to speed up drawing.

So that when I am working on a multilevel building all I would have to do is copy the floor plan from one identical level and placing it on the other matching levels then just rename the panels and circuit names, without duplicating the copied information on the original panels. Breaking its connection with the parent panel and giving a notification to reassign panel names.

  12. Separate column in the feeder schedule for the service grounding electrode conductor.

The service ground does not get installed in the conduit with the service entrance conductors, so why is it shown just like all the other feeders where the equipment grounding conductor is installed with the feeder conductors. If you want the feature to show the GEC size, show it in a different column and show the feeder with no ground listed with the feeder conductors so its clear it is not in the conduit.

If there was a way to have the export of one line diagrams go to drafting views instead of populating external dwgs?

I won’t say never, because that’s what we originally said about ever doing anything for Revit at all, and look where we are. However, this request is very unlikely. Using all the power of AutoCAD, we just barely are able to pull off a one-line that people are comfortable using. It would be a lot of work to do something in Revit that is half as good that likely no one would actually be happy using.

  14. Copy panel and loads to new project

Be able to copy panels and other distribution from one project to another. The loads on the panel will be created as fixed loads in the new project.

When exporting the one-line diagram from Revit to AutoCAD, assign the layer system used in AutoCAD to match the phase in Revit.

  19. Spaces in Feeder Callouts

Be able to display feeder callouts with spaces after commas, instead of having all the wire sizes right next to each other.

    Current Callout:
    2''C,2#3/0,#3/0N,#6G

    Desired Callout:
    2''C, 2#3/0, #3/0N, #6G

  20. Labeling diffuser cal louts with (TYP 2) if they are in the same room or near each other.

When the same diffusers are located in the same room, it would be nice if there was an option to label one diffuser and then (TYP and then the quantity it applies to) as opposed to labeling each individual grille/diffuser. This would help clean up the drawings quite a bit from unneeded notations.
