Design Master Wish List

The current releases are DM Electrical RT 1.1, DM Electrical 8.4, DM HVAC 7.3, and DM Plumbing 4.1. We are not adding new features to these releases.

The next releases will be DM Electrical RT 1.2, DM Electrical 8.5, DM HVAC 7.4, and DM Plumbing 4.2 We are actively working on these release and using this wishlist to guide which features we implement. Some features you see marked as “complete” will not be available until these releases are finished.

How can we improve Design Master?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

  1. Copy equipment connections in equipment group

When you copy an equipment group, copy all of the equipment connections in it, too. (Currently the group is copied and the group settings, but not the actual pieces of equipment in the group.)

    • Separate column in the feeder schedule for the service grounding electrode conductor.

The service ground does not get installed in the conduit with the service entrance conductors, so why is it shown just like all the other feeders where the equipment grounding conductor is installed with the feeder conductors. If you want the feature to show the GEC size, show it in a different column and show the feeder with no ground listed with the feeder conductors so its clear it is not in the conduit.

When printing load calculations, have a Select All/Unselect All check box. It's a bit tedious to do manually.

        • Variable Custom Pressure Drop in Ductwork

Be able to specify a pressure drop in the ductwork that changes based upon the airflow in the ductwork.

We currently allow you to lock a specific pressure drop but it does not change as the design changes. Instead lock an equivalent duct length or something similar that would change based upon the airflow.

          • Include "1" before single ground and neutral wires

Add an option to include a "1" in the wire callout before single ground and neutral wires. Currently the wire size is listed with no count before it.

            Current wire callout:
            1/2"C, 1#12, #12N, #12G

            New wire callout:
            1/2"C, 1#12, 1#12N, 1#12G

            • Add a hatch pattern to room definitions

When defining rooms, it is often difficult to determine which rooms have been defined and which have not, if an area gets surrounded. Adding a hatch pattern on its own layer would make it much easier to determine if you've included all room definition areas.

              • Electrical + HVAC for Revit in German with german norms

We have a large Building design Industrie. And all Arch and Eng companies are now changing from AutoCad to Revit but there is no good Software on the market for engineers to calculate electrical or HVAC Systems. An app for Revit for both will make it all better and faster. The potential could be in the millions.

                • Adjust Feeders and branch circuit sizing based on derating

Adjust the wire size of feeders and branch circuits based on derating. This calculation needs to account for Ambient Temperature Correction Factors, Adjustment Factors and conduits on a roof (even though NEC 2017 eliminated this one). For example, there is an option in DME RT feeder sizing that asks about a double neutral. If we are acknowledging we need a double neutral, it should be understood the neutral is a current carrying conductor and should adjust the wire size and conduit size per the NEC.

                          • Show schedule notes on last column when schedule is split

Currently if a schedule has a "Maximum Schedule Height" set the schedule notes are placed at the bottom of the first column. It would be better to place them at the bottom of the last column (or at least have an option to place them there) since the last column is often shorter than the others.

I won’t say never, because that’s what we originally said about ever doing anything for Revit at all, and look where we are. However, this request is very unlikely. Using all the power of AutoCAD, we just barely are able to pull off a one-line that people are comfortable using. It would be a lot of work to do something in Revit that is half as good that likely no one would actually be happy using.

                                      • Voltage Drop Based upon Connected or Other Load

One example of a use for this feature is a piece of equipment that serves a single motor. You want the voltage drop for the connected load of the motor, rather than the calculate load, which will be 125% of the motor load.

                                        • Reset panel "Fixed Loads".

Often, I need to "start over" on a panel that I've assigned fixed loads. It would be handy to have a button that would clear every fixed load on the panel. Or even be able to select several circuits and clear those circuit's fixed loads.
