Design Master Wish List

The current releases are DM Electrical RT 1.3, DM Electrical 8.5, DM HVAC 7.3, and DM Plumbing 4.1. We are not adding new features to these releases.

The next releases will be DM Electrical RT 1.4, DM Electrical 8.6, DM HVAC 7.4, and DM Plumbing 4.2 We are actively working on these release and using this wishlist to guide which features we implement. Some features you see marked as “complete” will not be available until these releases are finished.

  1. lighting report

Provide a check box in the Building Room dialog box to NOT include the room in the lighting report.

I have a job where I need room names to generate the names for the receptacle circuits in the panel schedule, but don't want the rooms to show up in the Indoor Lighting Levels report.

  4. Make duct centerlines independent of DIMSCALE

When working at a smaller scale (ie. 1/8th"), make it so the duct center lines always appear the same size. The duct center lines are drafting tools only and do not appear on the drawing therefore having them adjust with the DIMSCALE is not neccesary. When the DIMSCALE is changed to 96 or higher, drafting in tight spaces can be difficult when the duct centerlines are large because the arrows are too large to work with and tend to overlap others.

  5. Schedules

Having the ability to adjust the width of a schedule in the drawing model, instead of the schedule toolbox.

  6. enable object snap for Move Note

Nitpicky feature, but it would be nice to be able to use the object snaps when moving notes so they can be more easily lined up.

  7. Electrical + HVAC for Revit in German with german norms

We have a large Building design Industrie. And all Arch and Eng companies are now changing from AutoCad to Revit but there is no good Software on the market for engineers to calculate electrical or HVAC Systems. An app for Revit for both will make it all better and faster. The potential could be in the millions.

  8. Pipe breaks caused by only one set of pipes

Our plumbing drawings will typically be drawn with supply and drainage on the same drawing. It would be helpful if only the drainage piping caused breaks with drainage piping and the supply piping with only the supply piping. Additionally we place venting on a separate layer. I am thinking that you could place different pipe types into different categories and they would only affect pipe breaks on pipes in their category.

  10. Existing Loads & Metered Demand

Include, in options, the ability to not include existing (layered) items in panel, feeder, and service calculations. I'd like to enter the load to keep track of it, but have the ability to exclude it from the load calculations since "existing" would be included in the metered demand load.

  11. HVAC - Allow for the input of design Notes

In the "Room Project Schedule" add a box which would allow for the addition of design notes. This would allow for the designer to document why certain values where chosen. When the loads are printed the notes would also be displayed for reference.

  12. Number Circuits Sequentially in Panels

Allow panels to have the circuits in them numbered sequentially, rather than split odd and even.

  13. Query Low Voltage Device

Query command does not show circuit connection for low voltage devices. We typically have low voltage devices connected to different panels, and querying the device to determine the panel to which it is circuited would be nice.

  14. Device Customization blocks subfolders

Many of our projects require custom device blocks. We also have blocks for US standards, European standards, Middle Eastern standards, etc. The Customization folder is a mess. It would be nice if DM searched this selected folder and all of it's subfolders for it's blocks without having to add them each to AutoCAD's support paths.

  15. put alternating shading on successive rows in outputted html tables/reports

For example, when I print an HVAC load calculation report, the many row entries can be difficult to follow visually across the screen. This obviously won't be useful in absolutely every case, but an option to have a little bgcolor="#EEEEEE" every other line would be awesome.

  16. Selected device type to find that are uncircuited

Often I circuit items by device type, such as equipment first, then general receptacles, and finally lighting. Sometimes I only show the light fixtures or site lighting but don't ever circuit them as a lighting designer is taking that part of the contract. So under either situation if the symbols have already been placed and I do the “Highlight Uncircuited Devices” command, I get so many lines going all over the place that I can't find out which receptacles I haven't circuited. It would be nice under the Highlight Uncircuited Devices label you have a sub-selection of: Receptacle, Lights, Equipment,…

  17. Customization of circuiting callouts

In circuiting callouts, allow the dash to be replaced by a custom string.

Example: Default circuiting callout is L1A-1,3,5. Allow us to make it say L1A: 1,3,5 or L1A CKT 1,3,5.

  18. Make all Panel/Device selections drop downs

Some windows allow you to choose a panel or device (receptacle, lvd, light, etc) by a drop down box. Others require you to slowly click next/previous. It would be great if all the next/previous windows were converted to the drop down box.

I feel the benefits are pretty obvious.

  19. Add an attribute for panel schedule

Add an attribute that adds the odd circuit and the even circuit in a panel schedule, i.e. circuits 1 & 2, circuits 3 & 4, etc., and be able to put that attribute in the phase block of the panel schedule.
